Description:


Sri Lanna National Park where is eighth largest national park in Thailand and it is the second largest national park in northern Thailand. The park encompasses 1,406 square kilometers or about 222,700 hectors, covering  part of Chiang Mai district, Chiang Dao district and Mae Tang district.

On this trekking route we start walking from an Akha hill tribe’s village in Phrao district about 310 meters above sea level and walk along the hilly route which is covered by many different types of trees such as wild banana trees, vineries, herbs, fagaceae , bamboo trees and pass organic tea and rice farms etc. until arrive at the pine tree forest about 1,400 meters above the sea level and continue by walking along the mountain edge and through the jungle shade until arrive to our unique house camp in Chiang Dao district area where we will stay overnight.

The second day of trek in Chiang Dao district we will walk through the mixed deciduous forest where you can participate with our guide and learn how to cook in the jungle (depending on the season). After lunch we will continue by walking along the creeks through the forest until arrive at the Dara-ang hill tribe’s village where we will stay for the second night. You will enjoy being welcomed by warm smiles and will be impresses by the histories and the interesting traditions of the various hill tribes as explained by our knowledgeable guide.

After breakfast the next morning you will trek for 2 hours to visit Pagayor hill tribe’s village. From the village we will continue by truck for about 40 minutes drive to Chiang Dao Cave.

Then we will explore the magnificent limestone cave at Chiang Dao and then drive about one hour to visit the waterfalls where we will  enjoy relaxing and being refreshed after our long trek. After drive a 40 minutes drive back to Chiang Mai we will arrive at hotel about 05.00 p.m. – 05.30 p.m.

Itinerary

Day 1

• Meet your tour guide and leave at about 08.00 a.m. from your hotel or guesthouse then drive to Tourist Police office for the trekking   documentary check. (Please prepare a photo copy of your passport for our guide.)
• Drives approximately 2 hours passing through the beautiful landscape of Phrao district until arrive to Akha hill tribe’s village. Lunch provided.
• Enjoy nature walking along the green hilly route approximately 5-6 hours until arrive to our unique house camp to stay overnight and enjoy with the natural creeks bath and candle light dinner.

Day 2

• Wake up and enjoy a big breakfast with fresh seasonal fruits and hot tea or coffee
• Then walk for about 2 hours through the lush green forest.
• Join together preparing our lunch by cooking them in natural materials e.g. banana leaf and bamboo tree.
• Trek along the creeks path through the forest approximately 2 hours until arrive to Dara-ang hill tribes village to stay overnight.
• Spend the night with Dara-ang host family where you will feel at home and be impressed by their traditional way of life.
• Enjoy dining and the welcoming dance from the Dara-ang poeple around a campfire

Day 3

• Enjoy a big breakfast
• Trek about  2 hours to visit Pagayor hill tribe’s village.
• Ride a truck about 40 minutes to Chiang Dao Cave.
• Drive to visit Chiang Dao's limestone cave.
• Break for lunch.
• Proceed to limestone waterfalls and enjoy the wet climbing and swim as long as you like.
• Return to Chiang Mai city and we will arrive to Hotel/Guest house at about 05.00 p.m.

General information

Topography

The park is surrounded by the valleys and a mountain chain luns from north to south. There are several brooks and creeks which flow to the Mae Ping river, the main river in Chiang Mai province. This river helps feed the many people who live along the river.

Climate

There are three seasons:

• Rainy season - from June to October. Temperature 10 – 30 c°
• Winter - from November to February. Temperature 7 - 16 c°
• Summer- from March to April. Temperature 22 – 38 c°

Flora and Fauna

The rugged mountainous park has mixed deciduous forests moist and dry evergreen and lowland tropical forests which are home many exotic plants and animal which live here. Wildlife includes; chickens, reptiles, spiders, varieties of bird and wild pig etc.

Nature Attractions: both sides along the road are covered by the forests of Prao and Chiang Dao district, having the most fantastic scenery from evergreen forests to the steep limestone mountain's waterfalls.

It is necessary to meet up with your tour guide one day before the tour starts in order to re-check and pick the options to suite your group as:-

This program is suitable for the families with the small children as parts of the hiking are not difficult and can be tailored to make it suit your family.

Baggage

We recommend you to leave your baggage at your hotel/guest house if it is available or at our office. The less baggage you carry with you, the more you will enjoy the program.
