    I am writing this review for those of you out there who know the value of a good company that is owned by honest and hard working people. I recently travelled for 2 months throughout Thailand and spent 8 days in Chiang Mai during their the Songkran festival. It's their New Year and I heard that the festival is the best in Chiang Mai. (It was AMAZING!) I booked a 2 week tour including Bangkok, Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, and ending up in Chiang Mai. Everything was great. All of the places I stayed were clean and well maintained until I got to Chaing Mai. My tourist agent in Bangkok booked me a room in the Backpackers House (BPH) for the 8 days I was there. When I arrived I was very surprised to see how the hotel looked NOTHING like the brochure. It was a shabby place and it felt like I was walking into someone's living room. There were books and various stacks of papers untidily stacked all over behind the counter. It looked like a disaster. The room was even worse. There were holes and stains all over the linen and looked like it was in need of some serious upkeep. I knew that I could not stay there. I called my tourist agent and he told me that it was Songkran and finding me another room would be very difficult. I told him I was patient and to take his time and waited for him to call me back. In 5 minutes he did. He told me a friend of 30 years was going to pick me up in 10 minutes. That was when I met Oodie Goodman the owner of the family run Chiang Mai Tours. He has been a tour guide since the age of 8 and his English was impeccable. For an extra $10 dollars US per night, Oodie put me in the Mawin Hotel. It was only 5 months old at the time and absolutely the best place I stayed during my 2 month tour. The best part was Oodies office is located on the ground floor of the Mawin so ANY questions, problems, anything, Oodie bent over backwards to help me with. To be clear I never took one of the tours through Chiang Mai Local Tours as I had already booked one before my arrival but Oodie helped me on a daily basis. He got me bus tickets, saved me on the refunding of my train ticket, and even took me to Chiang Rai and Chiang Lai to see the White Temple and the Singha Beer Farm. He and is family were amazing. Once in a while you get lucky to meet really good, honest, people during your travels and Oodie and his wife Yui are both great examples of this. If you are looking to tour Chiang Mai and want a friend not just a tour company who is looking to make that quick dollar, take a look at Chiang Mai Local Tours. The prices are very fair but what you get mostly is a tour agent that knows Thailand and will look out for your best interests even if he is not going to make that extra bit of cash.

    To give you an idea of how happy I was, I returned to Chiang Mai two more times during my travels and both times I stayed at the Mawin. It wasn't because of the hotel, there are tons to choose from, it was because of Chiang Mai Local Tours. It's good to have friends in a foreign land.

    I am Bee Lee's husband. Just to add to what my wife had already said. Suriya is the best tour guide we have ever come across in all our holidays overseas. He is one person who deserves the credit and appreciation for taking around on our just finished Chiengmai-Changrai tour. Is our privilege to have him as our tour guide and many thanks to Chiengmai Local Tours for this enjoyable holiday. We will definitely recommend your company to our relatives and friends. In short, Suriya had done a very good job. He is very obliging, patient and even goes out of the way to take us round to make our holidays a very enjoyable one. Suriya is more than a friend to us than our tour guide. We had good time together.

    I wanted to thank you for arranging Suriya to bring us around for this tour.  All of us enjoyed our trip very much.  He is a very good tour guide.  He is very obliging, helpful, kind and very knowledgeable.  He does not rush through the tour itinerary just to finish up the daily tour.  He takes time to take us around even until late at night to reach our hotel which is up the hill.   He takes the effort to bring us to taste all the best Chiengmai Local food in town.  Even at time when we requested him to stop a while to buy something or see some interesting scenery, he will stop and patiently wait for us without grumbling.   He always ensured that we are safe and enjoyed our holiday by cautioning us on all dangers during our tour trip. He is not calculative and always extended the tour time by bringing us for breakfasts and dinners and to all optional tours like Night Safari, Long neck and night market.
     
    In the future if I were to go to Chiengmai again, I would want Suriya to be my tour guide again. I would also recommend my friends and relatives to him. Once again thank you very much for arranging such a good tour guide for us.  So far for all my holiday trips in other countries, I have not come across such a patience and obliging tour guide.

    Oodie,

    My family and I returned to our California home yesterday after our wonderful trip through Thailand. I just want to express how happy we were with the tour and our tour guide Bob. We loved the Elephant Hospital, Tiger Kingdom, the hotel in Chiang Rai, the Black House and White Temple. The countryside was beautiful. Bob was extremely patient and answered all of our questions in clear English. The driver was also friendly and very safe.

    We were sad to hear from Bob that the Elephant Hospital in Lampang is not so popular among the visitors to Chiang Mai. I have now been to both this location and the other location nearest Chiang Mai, and I hope you can promote the Lampang location to your visitors. Seeing the injured elephants and baby elephant being cared for really touched our hearts, and I hope more people have a chance to see it.

    If there is anything I could comment on, I would kindly recommend to provide seat belts in the van to make your visitors more comfortable. But please know that this did not take away from our experience. Everything we saw will forever be in our memories.

    Ik vond het nodig om mijn ervaringen met ChiangMai Local Tours even neer te schrijven. Mijn echtgenoot en ik hadden een geweldige tijd. We hebben mogen kennismaken met het ‘echte’ Thaise leven. Tijdens de tour hebben we de meest vriendelijke mensen ontmoet. Ik heb er geen woorden voor, Mr Oodie. Je heb goed voor ons gezorgd en je kennis gedeeld met ons. We hebben prachtige dingen mogen ervaring, lekker gegeten en zijn ook super tevreden van de aangeboden accommodatie.

    We willen ook onze chauffeur, Mr. Chai bedanken. Hij is een goed en bezorgd persoon. Maar vooral een voorzichtige chauffeur met veel verantwoordelijkheid.

    We zijn nu al onze volgende trip naar Thailand aan’t plannen. Ik will je laten weten dat deze trip één van de ‘highlights’ was tijdens onze reis en zeker opnieuw een trip zullen inplannen.

    We visited Chiangmai in July 2012 and are looking forward to a visite in the future. We had the best service we could even imaginge. Oodie en Chai really spoiled us: Taxi service from railway station to hotel, cooking class, temple visits, Northern Thailand Tour, airport service, etc... The best thing was the personal approach. We got to customize our programme, so it was perfect for our situation. We visited Doi Suthep, where Chai teached us the history of Buddha. We got to taste delicious local food, visited markets and restaurants where tourists normally don't appear and enjoyed the company of an experienced, joyfull tourguide. We'll recommend chiangmai local tours to everybody who plans to visit beautifull Thailand and we sincerely hope to meet our friends again one day. Sawasdee Krap!

    Bonjour,

    Je viens de Suisse et j'ai eu la chance de passer du temps à Chiang Mai. Durant mon séjour j'ai participé à un trekking de 3 jours avec ma famille et des amis, tout s'est passé à merveille et se sont des souvenirs qui resteront à jamais gravés dans nos mémoires. Nous garderons aussi un très bon souvenir concernant un jour de pêche où nous avons pu attraper des poissons de plus de 30 kilos.

    Si vous avez l'occasion de vivre une de ces expériences, je vous recommande vivement d'y aller.
